We are happy to announce that we will be bringing a work by Cesare Fracanzano to the new edition of the widespread exhibition Panorama Monopoli, a project created by ITALICS Consortium and curated by Vincenzo de Bellis, associate director and curator for the visual arts at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.

“Panorama Monopoli” will be held from Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th September 2022 in Monopoli in the heart of the Apulian Adriatic coast, along the Costa dei Trulli.
The exhibition itinerary of “Panorama Monopoli” embraces the ancient historic center of the Adriatic town and unfolds along a constellation of 20 exhibition spaces, including palaces, churches, squares, votive shrines hidden in the alleys and chiassi, where 70 works from the fifteenth century to today can be found. These include 7 performative works by 60 international artists of different eras, generations and nationalities.
We look forward to seeing you in Monopoli for a new itinerary between art, architecture, antiquity and the contemporary, accompanied by a calendar of in-depth opportunities such as events open to the public, performances and special projects.
“Panorama Monopoli” is created with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, and the support of the Puglia Region-Department of Tourism, Economy of Culture and Valorisation of the Territory, and the Municipality of Monopoli-Department of Culture and Tourism.

Giacometti Old Master Paintings will participate to the new digital edition of TEFAF from September 9–13, 2021, with an invitation-only preview event on September 8, 2021.

Over 250 world-class exhibitors will show up to three artworks that tell a single, compelling story when in conversation with one another.

We are pleased to present a triptych of “Battle Scenes without a Hero” according to the famous formula coined by Saxl. A rare canvas by Aniello Falcone is accompanied on the two sides by two tondi on copper in pendant. The first, also a work by Falcone, is the only pictorial document of the implementation by the master of the precious support; the second is a work by Andrea De Leone, his most loyal pupil and colleague. The first monograph exhibition dedicated to Aniello Falcone – who led a whole school of genre painting specialists such as Salvator Rosa and Domenico Gargiulo, Luca Forte and Paolo Porpora – will be held in the Complesso Monumentale di Donnaregina – Museo Diocesano in Naples (September 28, 2021- January 8, 2022). The three paintings here presented will be featuring on loan in the exhibition.

Giacometti Old Master Paintings – member of ITALICS – is pleased to announce the participation of Massimo Listri with “Villa de Clario, Livardi” to PANORAMA | Procida, an island-wide exhibition on Procida (off the coast of Naples) from Thursday, 2 September to Sunday, 5 September 2021, curated by Vincenzo de Bellis, Curator and Associate Director of Programs, Visual Arts at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.

It is the first in a series of exhibitions, each with the title Panorama, organised by ITALICS to tell the story of some of the most fascinating places in Italy, in an offline continuation of the extraordinary journey begun in October 2020 on the pages of the website italics.art.

PANORAMA | Procida is an itinerary that explores the island’s powerful beauty, where art and nature design a new landscape that includes the dimension of experience. A shared happening that involves the entire area and its citizens, planned in dialogue with Agostino Riitano, director of Procida, the Italian Capital of Culture 2022.

The exhibition brings together over fifty works of art spanning sculpture, painting, video, performance and installations from a wide range of historical and production contexts. The itinerary stops at several different sites island-wide, including public and private buildings, churches, historical palazzos and more, all pivoting around the fortified village of Terra Murata, dominated by Palazzo d’Avalos (1563), a former prison citadel.
Spreading the project throughout the island, Panorama presents not just Procida’s works of art but also its houses, churches, streets, terraces, piazzas and even residents.
With Panorama, ITALICS is renewing its commitment to promote the beauty of Italy in all its profound complexity, through the eyes of Italian gallerists.

PANORAMA | Procida is made possible thanks to Intesa Sanpaolo, project Partner, and Tod’s, who with this commitment confirms its support for contemporary young creative artists. The exhibition is organized with the support of the Campania Region, the Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee – museo Madre, and in collaboration with the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Procida and “Verso Procida 2022.”

For its fifth participation to the TEFAF Maastricht fair, Giacometti Old Master Paintings brings a rigorous selection of unpublished old master paintings among which the following rediscoveries stand out:

An enormous neo-venetian canvas of the young Luca Giordano, Moses and the brazen serpent (fig. 1), which was owned by the flemish dealer Ian Van Den Eynden and which was cited in the neapolitan diary of T. Puccini.

The first signed prototype of a masterpiece by Luca Ferrari, Arria and Caecina Paetus (fig. 2), of which the composition was already known from a conspicuous series of versions realised together with the school and copies.

A pair of Flute Players (transverse and recorder, figg. 3-4) accompanies the surprising discovery by Francesca Curti of the name of the so-called Master of the Incredulity of Saint Thomas: Bartolomeo Mendozzi della Leonessa, caravaggesque Italian artist who was pupil of Bartolomeo Manfredi and painted for the Giustiniani and Savoia families, becoming first rector of San Luca Academy and Virtuous of the Pantheon.

The portraits of the Contess of Albany (fig. 5) and of her lover, the famous poet Vittorio Alfieri (fig. 6), signed in the 1800 by François Xavier Fabre.

A mysterious stoic Philosopher meditating on the skull of the Master of the Annunciation to the Shepherds (fig. 7), exemplary product of the trends diffused in neapolitan philosophical circles in 1600s.

A small and unspoilt Adoration of the Magi by Domenico Piola (fig. 8), of unique liveliness of colours and richness of details.

Two delicious small scene of popular life by Pietro Fabris, a Mother and child in Vomerese costumes and a Family of fishermen in Chiaia (fig. 10), painted with sharp spirit of observation and a vivid depiction of reality.
